Money - when not managed well - can be a source of a lot of stress and anxiety. However, with the right tools and a framework that supports you in a completely holistic way, you can achieve peace of mind and start living now and not just waiting for retirement to start enjoying life.
This is what I’m here to do. I’m here to show you that money management doesn’t need to be tedious or overwhelming. In fact, by doing some work upfront, you only need to spend 2 hours a month on managing your money. And the rest enjoying your life, knowing that your finances are taken care of and working FOR you.
While I have 21 years behind me as a financial advisor and run a successful financial coaching business, my own journey to money mastery has been bumpy, to say the least.
Growing up, my home environment was filled with massive financial stress and anxiety. My dad was a gambler and we sometimes lived off of government assistance. The scarcity mindset got ingrained into my psyche.
From high school graduation onwards, I earned and spent money, initially living within my means. However, the societal trap of living on credit cards led me down a path of credit-fueled excess – fancy cars, lavish trips, and high-end dining. Slowly, my financial foundation crumbled. Despite my role as a financial advisor, I was drowning in debt, with a repossessed car and a barely existent credit score. I juggled periods of denial and occasional confrontations with reality, feeling the weight of guilt for not practicing what I preached.
10 years into my career, despite a 6-figure income, my savings remained elusive, and I was stuck in a cycle of debt. Deep down, shame and guilt eroded my happiness. Even attempts at vision boards felt like failures, as my spending didn’t align with my aspirations.
One day I hit a breaking point. I stopped caring about others’ perceptions and decided to be true to myself. This was a tough shift, having grown up with very little and always striving to prove my success through an unsustainable lifestyle.
I enlisted my sister as my financial sponsor and mentor and she got me working on my budget worksheet. At first, the tedious task felt exhausting, but my persistent sister kept me on track. Recognizing the need for simplicity, I harnessed my ADHD as a superpower to streamline the process. I also questioned old patriarchal beliefs ingrained in me as a financial advisor and started understanding why existing systems weren’t working.
Through trial and error, I eventually developed a financial system tailored for busy, ambitious women like myself. After years of perseverance and my sister setting me free, I had created a financial system that led to my vision board coming alive and me feeling financially secure and healthy for the first time in my life.
I learned to keep a financial balance in my life so that I didn’t feel constrained and could reward myself a little each month. I created SIMPLICITY. I got very clear with my vision and clarity around how I wanted my money to work for me. I cleared my debts, paid cash for my car, and generated a cash flow that started earning ME money. When I began to take care of my debts and not create more debt, unexpected money started to show up in my life. Yes, really. When I fell short a month, an unexpected check would arrive from my work.
I’m thankful to the Universe for challenging me, not letting me off easy, and making me work hard and stay committed to creating my DREAM life. I once hated looking at my finances and now I passionately love my own financial check-ins.
In other words, by taking multiple strategies and turning them into one easy flow that is designed to bring your VISION BOARD to life, I will help you feel confident in your money decisions, knowing that using the process will keep you from overspending, help you pay off unnecessary debt to free up cash flow, divert money to fill your goal buckets before you can “leaky” spend, and discover the intentional use of your money.
You will create a strategy that you can trust is working, and as a result, you will see a different perspective to reach your financial desires and create a financial foundation that feels secure. The key is to letting go of trying to control every penny spent by TRUSTING the new system. So that you can focus on enjoying life instead of spending all your energy of trying to manage your money.
To help get you on track and thriving, I have developed my signature method that consists of:
STEP 1. Creating a money management system that is easy and quick to implement and follow.
STEP 2. Defining a desired quality of life and setting corresponding financial goals through intentional use of money (for example creating passive income through wealth building, paying cash for a car, buying that second home, traveling, essential savings for emergencies, home improvements fund, etc.).
STEP 3. Building a retirement account for when you choose to no longer work.
Unlike other programs and coaches, I don’t solely focus on typing numbers in a spreadsheet and adding up your expenditures in your checking account. The tedious work that becomes the mountainous grind is a sure way to feel like a failure when you don’t have the time or energy to keep up.
